Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
    Wash clothes in cold water.
    Turn off all appliances on standby.
    Drive a more fuel-efficient car.
    Drive in a more economical way
    Turn off lights when you leave the room.
    Install solar water heating.
    Stop land clearing and plant trees.
    Walk instead of using the car.
    Stay home for holidays and cut back on overseas flights.
    Boil only the water you need in your kettle.
    When replacing old appliances get energy saving options.
    Insulate cavity walls where possible.
    Use gas rather than electricity for cooking and heating.
    Turn your thermostat down by one degree for heating or up one degree for cooling.
    Install full ceiling insulation or top up your existing insulation.

This is interesting. Good to know I’m doing a few things right. Now I’m wondering what constitutes an old appliance–is there some difference in manufacturing that I should look for or does age lead to inefficiency, period?
